Dr. Maimo immediately put me at ease. We talked about my family history of heart disease, and he asked clarifying questions. Then he examined me. He explained what the EKG printout was showing, and even confirmed that my pulse strength was even at all points showing me that I do not currently have the same issue my mom or my uncle had. His clear understanding of my concerns was comforting; and his explanation of next steps was understandable and quite reasonable. I feel like I have a partner in my health journey with Dr. Maimo and his team.

He explained what was wrong and how to fix the issues. He was very professional, personable . Nobody has ever explained my problems so that I understood the dire consequences of my condition. And he did it his real concern for my well being. I left the building feeling that Emory gives a damn about me. Thank you

The physician was phenomenal, and I was scared based on my history of treatment at Emory. I've read my notes and they have often popped unannounced drug screens on me without telling me they have done so- I don't like that - I am always honest, just ask me if I have used or what I have used recently. Most of the time you don't have to ask me- I tell you. He was so kind and didn't seem to judge me for my use- he seemed to just appreciate I was now in recovery and wanted to help me ensure I am healthy, and rectify anything that may be wrong due to my use. He congratulated me on my clean time. He was warm and kind. It makes a differences to people like me who suffer from SUD, and it makes us more likely to seek care versus being shamed and feeling fear, and therefore avoiding care.
