In my experience, doctors and assistants in speciality practices don't seem to really remember much about you. In this practice though, both of them remembered everything I'd told them before from where we spent our winter, to where we lived in Georgia, to how I broke my fingers. I was honestly amazed. They are top notch and they also care and pay attention.

Dr. Knaus wrapped my hand himself and took that opportunity to explain everything to me - options, recommendations, risks, future stiffness, importance of certified hand physical therapist, timing, surgical process. I was very impressed with his thoroughness and also his gentleness when wrapping it.

He didn't ask me about my pain or do any mobility assessments; Kaus just measured the cyst and addressed none of the pain I was trying to bring up. I appreciate his honesty with how poor the treatment options are for the cyst I suppose, though I feel like I'm at an impasse about what to do for my pain, weakness, and lack of mobility.

I was told by him that I am going to need a revision for the surgery he performed on my hand in October so I am very unhappy. The revision surgery should have been part of the original surgery. It was an oversite on his part. I had a similar surgery on the opposite hand from a different surgeon and what Dr. Knaus wants to do as a revision, the other surgeon did as part of the initial surgery. He was in the room for less than 6 minutes and never even sat down.

Dr Knaus is apparently so good at what he does that he's BORED or BURNED out with his career. He talked as if he's said this 100x and rushed through in monotone voiced protocols. No real bedside manner.

Dr. Knaus was the most relaxed this time since I first met him. Very thorough with taking measurements and asking relevant questions about functionality. He closed the visit with conversation around my work as a Grants administrator and general pleasantries after discharging me from care.
