About the Provider
Suchitra Chandrasekaran, MD, is a maternal fetal medicine specialist working with women experiencing high-risk pregnancies.
Being pregnant is never easy. But Dr. Chandrasekaran recognizes that when you’re coming to see her, it means things may be especially difficult. Her goal is to walk each patient through the process, providing information and support that, hopefully, makes things at least a little easier. She reminds her patients that while things may be challenging, everything will be worth it when their baby arrives.
Dr. Chandrasekaran enjoys being part of Emory Healthcare because she is a physician and educator working in an academic medical center. Teaching new physicians helps her stay up to date on the latest evidenced-based medical care. This helps the doctors of tomorrow that she trains and the patients of today she treats.

I wish she would have sat down for a few minutes with me to actually talk to me and get to know me a bit more.

I left more confused about my situation.

Dr. Suchi was absolutely wonderful. She kept us informed every step of the way. Explained to us all of our options and also checked for understanding. She was thorough with her notes which was great because I could go back and have a point of reference when I need clarity.

Provider spent about 30 seconds with us. Didn't even sit down. Came in, told us our baby's head was smaller than they'd like and that the pediatrician would be told when baby arrived. Did not talk about any possible concerns for a baby's head size being small and what it may/may not indicate. We came in for fetal growth scans and measurements because baby is in 6th % at 37 weeks. Did not even tell us if she had made growth progress which was the entire reason we were there. I had to look at the screen myself and figure out her new percentile. Did not even ask if we had questions. Just told us to have a good day and left.

The health care provider we saw was amazing she came in and calmed our nerves after the tech got us upset

The doctor came in and was done with her ultrasound follow up in less than a minute. Not sure if this is standard since this is my first child, but it seemed rushed.

She was dismissive. Felt like she was in a hurry. When I asked questions she stated just to refer to my ob, when they we're questions she couldve answered. They weren't anything specific to delivery they were questions that a high risk MD should know or attempt to find out. I didn't like that very much.

Dr CHANDRASEKARAN was not good in showing care and being informative. This being my first pregnancy I expected her to explain why I was seeing a specialist, what they look for, next steps and areas of concern. However every question was answered with vague advice about how each mom chooses a different option and that it's up to me what I'm comfortable with, rather than explaining my options. She seemed to want to end the meeting quickly but then said more In the post appointment report than she said to us in the room. She also barely acknowledged my husband which seemed rude.

The doctor didn't provide information until patient questioned original reason for the visit
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/30/2024
I got very upset when I learned that I likely have gestational diabetes, and the doctor was so kind and informative. She really went above and beyond to give me the information I needed and to reassure me. I so appreciate her!

The doctor made me over concerned about a potential issue and made it seem like it was a definite issue. I also feel like this doctor doesn't cater language to terms a patient can easily understand. She also made it seem like I had to do a certain type of testing which is expensive but in reality not necessary at all. I spent days crying and worrying about my baby until My next appointment with another provider showed it wasn't an issue at all and nothing at all to worry about.

Still having to go to two different doctors is exhausting.

She was in the room for no longer than 1 minute. Said everything looks good and said see you in 3 weeks. She was walking out the door when my husband was like "wait I have a question" and she stood in the doorway with the door open while he asked and she quickly responded "that's normal" and walked out. Being a black woman during maternal health week, it just felt very dismissive and my husband and I didn't appreciate it.
