I have been coming to Dr. Stephen Pastan for almost thirty years now, ever since my endocrinologist detected that I had a severe case of kidney disease and she referred me to him. An arthritis medicine had thrown me into Stage 3 Kidney Disease! I could no longer take ANY nsaids and I suffer from fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis! I had to learn how to grin and bear the pain in order to protect my kidneys! On top of it all, I have the world's worst veins and would NEVER be able to do dialysis! Dr. Pastan says that I am his best patient, because I do EVERYTHING he tells me to do exactly!! I have to do it to avoid dialysis! Thirty years later and I am still in Stage 3 and very stable! I am only allowed 6 ounces of protein per day, but I don't care; it's not that important. I drink only water and plenty of it! I've always been the designated driver and that was fine with me. Dr. Pastan has saved my life and is keeping me alive and healthy!

Dr. Pastan is very detailed. He explains everything. No problem with taking to show you what's going on with your body. Extremely patient when listening. You walk away with more knowledge about your health and plan to improve it.

Dr. Pastan paid more attention to typing his patient notes than actually getting to know me. He was very "matter of fact" and used the cookie-cutter method when giving medical advise. His bedside manner could use some polishing. He received a phone call, answered it, and had a conversation during my appointment. He listened to my heart and lungs, pressed on my right side of my abdomen, and asked was there anything else he could do for me.
