About the Provider
Stephen H. Weiss, MD, has many years of experience in performing minimally invasive surgery, including vaginal hysterectomy, laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic ovary, tubal and laser surgery.
Dr. Weiss can provide treatment for nearly all types of fibroid issues. He has extensive experience with traditional treatment methods such as myomectomy (via incision or via hysteroscope), minimally invasive hysterectomy, and open hysterectomy which can typically be done with a “bikini” cut even with very large fibroids.
He performs a relatively new treatment named the Acessa procedure, (laparoscopic fibroid ablation), a minimally invasive, outpatient treatment that involves small abdominal incisions. It causes coagulation of the fibroid tissue. The treated tissue softens and shrinks over time, allowing fibroid symptoms to resolve with no suturing of the uterine tissue. Many women typically experience minimal discomfort after the procedure and typically can return to work within four to five days. Most importantly, this procedure provides his patients with long-term satisfaction and relief.

We had a great appointment with Dr Weiss. He had a wonderful way of explaining my daughter's condition to us in a way that was knowledgeable and respectful of my daughter's cognitive ability.

Dr. Weiss is easily one of the most attentive and caring providers that I have seen (and I've seen a LOT of providers). He's not full of "fluff," but I can tell that he is thinking critically and listening carefully to what I tell him. He came into the room remembering me from my visit(s) this spring/summer, and he had already formulated a hypothesis and three treatment options based on that. He explained each option to me and which he thought was best based on my PMH of endometriosis. When I gave him additional info about my PMH and family hx, he immediately adjusted his care plan to include imaging along with the hormonal treatment he thought was best. I feel really cared for and respected when I'm in Dr. Weiss's office. I can tell that he is highly intelligent and capable, and that my weird medical case Is a fun challenge for him, but he doesn't come off smug or make me feel dehumanized (like I'm "just" a "weird case"). I feel confident voicing my desires and worries in our appointments because I know he is receptive to feedback and willing to think and talk through all options with me, while still guiding me towards what he feels is the best course based on his experience and knowledge. I don't know, I just come away from these appointments always going "wow, that was actuallygreat? I got everything I needed?"

Dr. Weiss is a knowledgeable and experienced physician however my chief complaint was not addressed. I came to him with a complaint a urinalysis and sample was taken from me but never sent to the lab. He offered a prescription or to repeat the labs but obviously this would be a major inconvenience. No apology was given.

I have been a patient of Dr. Stephen H. Weiss for many years! With him being semi-retired, I hate the thought of even seeing another OB/GYN!!! Dr. Weiss is thorough and precise! He is a true professional-bar none! Actually, I prefer to see him over my PCP! We need more doctors like Dr. Weiss At Emory!

I wish the doctor was more compassionate. I'm sure he's been there for a long time, but I I felt no connection. During the procedure, his student was more compassionate and said I was doing good and doctor didn't say a word. I had to ask him how am I supposed to feel the next day? He didn't voluntarily tell me what to expect if there's gonna be any issues nothing

I had a very poor experience with this provider. I have a history of uterine fibroids and pelvic pain so I am on the drug Orilissa. I also had perimenopause related migraines but the Orilissa made them worse. In addition I began a FTM gender transition in 02/2023 and have been on topical testosterone gel since that date. Despite this, I have continued to have cyclical migraines. I have portal-ed Dr. Weiss multiple times about this. He told me my migraines could not possibly be from estrogen since he checked my levels (on one day) and they were very low. At my annual checkup this year my primary care doctor sent me back to Dr. Weiss because of my ongoing cyclical migraines. At the visit on 4/18 he still insisted my migraines had nothing to do with estrogen. He then proceeded to recommend Estrogen patches to try 'just in case'. Not only am I transgendered but estradiol is on my list of allergies because prior treatment for heavy bleeding and painful periods with estradiol gave me suicidal ideations. When I told him this he did not even bother to look at MyChart at my history (I told him it should be on MyChart since it was within the last 2 years). He had obviously not done any research surrounding my issues nor contacted any colleagues who may have more experience in this area. He did finally refer me to an endocrinologist but this was after making me feel more 'other' than I already do by saying to me that I am his ONLY patient that is on Orilissa AND testosterone. The worst part about all of this was there was a trainee in the room so he is perpetuating this sub-par level of care.
