About the Provider

Quratulain Syed, MD is a board-certified internist and geriatrician and is an assistant professor of medicine at the Emory University Department of Medicine, Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics. She completed her residency at Elmhurst Hospital (Mt. Sinai School of Medicine program) and fellowship in geriatric medicine at Loyola University Medical Center. Her clinical practice is based at Grady Memorial Hospital outpatient geriatrics clinic, and at the Wesley Woods long term care. Additionally, she supervises internal medicine residents on inpatient teaching service and in outpatient medicine clinics, and family medicine residents in the long term care settings. Her clinical and research interests include driving safety, cognitive impairment, elder abuse/neglect, polypharmacy and deprescribing, transitions of care, and improving outcomes post-hospital discharge. She serves as a member of Disparities Task Force at Society of General Internal Medicine and the public education committee at American Geriatric Society. She reviews public education content for Health In Aging, a public education website of AGS, which can be accessed at www.healthinaging.org
She is passionate about teaching geriatric principles to medical residents and students, and currently serves as director of the geriatrics rotation for the J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program at Emory. She also participates in didactics for internal medicine residency, geriatric fellowship, school of medicine, and physician-assistant school programs. She has mentored several medical students, residents and geriatric fellows for publications and presentations at national meetings including SGIM and AGS.
