It appears my provider did not provide adequate care and management of dyskenesia symptoms (sever pressure in the gut and chest resembling heart attacks) resulting from levedopa medication prescribed for my Parkinson disease. My Emory care team should have evaluated me for a treatment called deep brain stimulation (DBS) to mitigate my primary Parkinsons and dyskenesia symptoms years ago. I brought this up in the appointment yesterday also because I suffered very severe dyskenesia during a trip to India and I had to visit a provider India. The Indian provider recommended that I am a good candidate for DBS surgery. But I was not given a satisfactory response yesterday to place me for DBS surgerry at the earliest

Orla Kirk McQuade is highly capable of analyzing Parkinson's issues. She listens, observes, and answers questions (and asks if there are any additional questions), and she is empathetic. She is forthright in her responses and does not deny that Parkinson's symptoms are progressive.

I saw Dr. Silvers' NP, Orla McQuade. She discussed my Parkinson's with me. I asked about the brain procedure that some Parkinson's patients are having, that alleviates the Parkinson's tremors. However, since I also have MS, and have serious balance issues I wouldn't be a candidate.

Ms McQuade was very friendly. She asked about previous experiences with Botox injections. She discussed the possible side effects, which were a concern to me as the side effects had been long-lasting, consisting of 20 days of unrelenting migraine headaches. She gave me assurances based on her experience with patients over the last several years. However. I did awake early the next morning with a terrible migraine which did not respond to any medication. I took Phenergan and slept until 5:00 PM. The next morning it was back, but not as severe.

Orla is very easy to talk to. She is a a good listener. She seems happy and kind. She seems to be truly interested in John's best interest.
