Dr. Lava is a world class doctor and it was truly a blessing, a gift from GOD that I got him. He is always prepared; he has read my chart, test results, etc.and is ready when I walk in the door. He answers alllll my prepared questions AND, he even asks me questions about my quality of life, medications, etc. Dr. Lava really makes me feel that he cares. He is efficient, empathetic, smart as a whip(bc he is prepared). He is also knowledgeable about my rare condition and he actually listens and cares about my quality of life. I feel he has helped save my life bc he has given me hope and options when I thought there were none. Even when I talk and cry sometimes he does all of this in the time allotted and that blows me away bc if he can do it, why can't other doctors? Emory has a gift in Dr. Neil Lava, I'm not related to him at all, but I would follow him wherever he went. He is the definition of professionalism, he is the model they should use when training the "newbies ", the future doctors. I'm long-winded, but I know to come prepared, on-time and ready bc Dr. Lava will be, if my appt. Is at 6am, 7:30, or after lunch he will not change. Consistent, Empathic, Patient, Caring, Intelligent, On-time, Professional, just a few words to describe Dr. Lava and my care in Neurology.

Dr. Lava did not seem to know of Emory programs that helped patients to deal with an Alzheimer's diagnosis. I had to find out from a friend that these programs do exist.

Dr. Lava is the Gold Standard of Excellence in how to make a patient feel heard, seen, and included. He is well prepared and I know that I am in good hands.

Again, Dr. lava was very attentive. I felt that I was being listened to as I answered all of his questions and even as he did the exam, we talked about the condition and situation I I am experiencing.

I came to the provider because of his specialty. I expected more. I drove 2 and a half hrs to see this provider hoping to gain some insight on what is going on with my health. The care provider by this doctor was sub par for a specialist .I can get the same level of care from my primary physician. I don't need a pill pusher. I need answers. I need a doctor that actually will put all the pieces of the puzzle together to figure out the problem.

Out of all of the doctors I have or had, Dr. Lava is by far the best.

Doctor Lava is a good doctor and welcoming. He notices orders, suggests support, and verbalizes empathy. Sometimes I feel like the diagnosis and regimen becomes normalized vs discovering other possibilities. Like the numbness in my feet. I went to an neuropathy clinic and am considering the surgery to Imp my circulation. Also I understand the patient has to advocate for themselves. So Although Dr. Lava saw "no big changes," I asked to see a comparison of my latest MRI results.Otherwise, he checks for changes and the visit is usually quick.

I just moved into area and came from having an amazing nuero doc. So it was nice to get a doc like Dr. Lava right off the bat. He got everything I said and had ideas that can help.

Dr. Lava goes above and beyond and has listened to my concerns about physical therapy and actually referred me for a more detailed plan of care within the same building just one floor below his office.
