Dr Michael has done 5 fusions on my spineone an emergency from a fall I took and broke my back! I refused to have any other surgeon at the ER operate on me and Dr Michael was able to get me in his hospital and stabilize me for two days then operated on me the third day and probably saved me from being paralyzed.

Dr. Michael is the best neurosurgeon at Emory. I have been operated on by Emory Neurosurgeons at least three times in the past.

His assessment is what I needed to hear. I am about to take on my 7th spinal surgery, and I am not done unfortunately. But for now, this is the main one, L3-L4, and he didnt pull any punches. He was very direct, wanted to hear what I had to say first as well. I was disappointed in what he said, only because he told me the truth, and it told me what I needed to know regarding my previous surgery and group that did the procedure. I have since decided to have him be my primary surgeon going forward. I typically leave spinal to Neurosurgeons, but everything I have read on him, the comments regarding patients in much worse situations than me, I appreciate that he is very direct and tells it like it is. He reminds of my favorite Neurosurgeon, who unfortunately passed away a short time ago, Dr. Barnett. I am lucky and blessed to find him before I went down another rabbit hole.

My Care Provider was thorough on reviewing my condition with me. He was patient with me as I provided responses to his questions. He listened to my questions and provided me with information that was clear and that I could understand. He didn't seem to be in a hurry while he was there with us! I was relieved that the surgeon did not recommend surgery for my scoliosis. Many times you believe they would advise surgery even if it's not needed but that wasn't the case with Dr. Michael. He was very kind and explained all aspects of the scoliosis issue, treatment proposed and later if I should decide upon surgery. I left feeling much better my prognosis.

O love my doctor. He shows so much concern, he makes me feel safe and always shows me that he's very competent, which makes me feel very safe wirh Doctor Michael.

Provider didn't give me many details about the procedure. He didn't talk much, waited for me to ask questions about something I didn't know anything about.
