I was surprised that the MD "assumed" which lens would be implanted. There was no prior discussion of options. I literally asked the resident/fellow what lens was being implanted and he wasn't sure. He raised it with Kim who did discuss it with me but this should have been a priority for a prior visit.

Dr. Kim is the absolute BEST! I know this not only because my left eye now has clear vision for the first time in two years. Or that I went to another eye surgeon before I found Dr. Kim and he wouldn't perform the cataract procedure (for whatever reason). But, the fellow who was shadowing Dr. Kim said that he was a great surgeon AND a great teacher. That speaks volumes!

I have always been Dr. Kim's biggest fan and maybe he was just having an off-day, but he didn't seem to give me thorough answers to my questions or fully address my concerns. He seemed tired and even a bit disinterested.

I hope Dr. Kim never retires. And if he (for some reason) chooses to leave the Emory practice, I will follow him wherever he goes. I already drive about 3 hours to see him.

Dr. Kim examined my eyes for what seemed like a longer time than usual but it was well worth it! He explained so much to me and then referred me to another doctor to help with my issue. Super happy and while the results were not what I "wanted to hear", I am happy that I have answers until my next visit.

One part of the visit was to check my glasses prescription. After I had the glasses made and tried them on this week, I learned that the prescription was dramatically incorrect. This is the second time this has happened in the last 3-4 years. It is an unacceptable error and has wasted a substantial amount of my time in needing a repeat visit, having to get new glasses made, etc.

I just didnt get answers the first time so I got another appointment, And I still left with the feeling that I was just rushed through

Dr. Kim is the best and I would proudly recommend him were it not for my disappointment in Emory itself. I saw a cornea specialist at another practice when I could not get an appointment with Dr. Kim due to an incident with Emory's phone staff I reported previously. As much as I love and trust Dr. Kim, I would have to recommend the other doctor I saw solely due to the courtesy and efficiency of his staff.

The doctor or fellow that saw me before Dr. Kim seemed to shine the bright light into my dilated eyes for quite some time making me uncomfortable.

Doctor Joung Kim has informed me about the corneal symptoms and how they may Impact the recovery after the cataract surgery. He answered my questions about the degree of progression and future outlook. He also advised me about the selection of reading glasses and referred me to optometrist In 3-4 weeks after the cataract surgery.
