I could immediately tell Dr. Mattox is a master at what he does. I didn't even have to find a way to articulate my experiences, or even finish my sentences, he just knew. I will be happy to come back to him to resolve my many ear problems as they come up.

Again - the nurse and nurse practitioner were great. The doctor gave me nothing. No proposed treatment, no answers, basically I paid for somebody to say I don't know' and go nowhere. I got a symptom that night when I got home.
- 3 out of 5 starsReviewed on 12/5/2025
The doctor didn't seem very concerned with my issue. He basically said he wasn't sure the cause, but that he didn't think it would get worse - although the notes have a mistake in them and actually say it could. He suggested that the fix would be worse than the issue and did not elaborate.

Dr Mattox was very kind to add me on his busy clinic schedule same day. He was informative and took time to answer my questions in detail. Emory is fortunate to have a provider with such expertise.

From a 38 year career as a Emory RN, Dr. M is the best there is!
- 3 out of 5 starsReviewed on 10/26/2025
I had been instructed by the MD to return to clinic when my acute problem flared up. It flared up, I made an appointment and was told that I had to see the PA. The PA documented the acute problem and prescribed medication, with a follow up appointment with MD scheduled for 3 weeks to discuss cause of acute problem. Returned to MD in three weeks, and he repeated that he would like to see it acutely himself, and to return when it acutely flared again. Massive waste of an appointment. I had requested that the MD stop in for a second when I saw the PA and was told that it didn't matter and seeing the PA would be fine. Turns out this was not the case and was highly frustrating to schedule and pay for two visits that did not contribute to my care

I feel like this visit was a waste of my time I was referred to him thinking that something could be done further Left with a piece of paper listing things I could do myself which I already had
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 6/21/2025
The best PA and Doctor ever.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 6/14/2025
She had his ears cleaned with no pushback.
- 2 out of 5 starsReviewed on 6/12/2025
Dismissed was the feeling when it was over. The appointment was very quick (less time than I spent waiting) part of that time was to see if he could schedule a hearing test. Three ear infections in 9 months twice going with sinus infection should have required a little more than looking and blowing in my ears. He handed me at a business card at the end saying he'd be happy to see me when I was symptomatic. Complete waste of my time. He wasn't rude, just very matter of fact. Like it was a to do to checked off
- 2 out of 5 starsReviewed on 6/12/2025
I left with no resolve to my problems so no, would not recommend this this provider.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 6/1/2025
I was primarily seen by a Resident doctor who was wonderful. He explained my hearing test results to me, so that I understood them. I was not impressed with the doctor, who spent very little time with me.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 6/1/2025
Dr Mattox and his team listened to me paid attention to my concerns and made recommendations and treatment plan that I understood and are planning to move forward with in July. He totally understood me and my current concerns with Mieners attacks and helped the best he could in my circumstances.

Dr. Mattox is an outstanding Doctor. He is thorough, professional and courteous. He seems to truly care about your issues and help you understand them.
- 4 out of 5 starsReviewed on 4/26/2025
Dr. Mattox is knowledgeable and I am sure good at what he does. Unfortunately, was not very helpful with practical or helpful advice. Maybe the problem I have does not have new and innovative treatments or maybe he was dismissive of my need to know more about what else can be done. Either way, he was not very engaged and I felt that I had to keep asking to find out the information I made the appointment for; which is, What Else can be done???

Not comfortable with a numeric score. New patient; untreatable standard tinnitus; last patient at the end of a long day. Hoped for more.
- 3 out of 5 starsReviewed on 3/13/2025
I felt Dr. Mattox didn't look into problem enough nor did he order any tests. I've had previous vertigo surgery I wanted it checked. He said no imaging. He said I'm referring you to neurology. I wanted those canal bones re scanned I'm having alot of vertigo again.

I read some of Dr. Mattoxs reviews. He's not arrogant or rough; however, He's knowledgeable and direct which I can respect. I would recommend him to family members. His PA that came to teach and assist me with the exercise for my Vertigo was Awesome! Thank you.

- 2 out of 5 starsReviewed on 2/22/2025
After my surgery and as a second follow up that I requested I was told the Dr wouldn't go back in to look for a different possible answer as to why I still cannot hear. I was told to get a hearing aid. I live 3 hours south so the visit wasn't easy and seemed to be a waste.

Initially seen a medical student and regrettably I do not remember her name but she had great bedside manner, listened carefully, performed a thorough exam pertinent to my HPI which was to the T repeated by Dr Mattox. He did not have to add or subtract as he reviewed her hx or pe. Dr Mattox, as per usual, was wonderful
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 11/8/2024
I am very appreciative of Dr. Mattox's expertise, review and recommendations for further clarification of the symptoms that were discussed and observed. I also appreciate his greeting with eye contact and introduction and feeling recognized as a person from the beginning of our time together.

- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 10/23/2024
Dr Mattox may be one of favorite doctors ever had. Personable and humble. Was unsure what causing my issue but just so honest and kind and will follow up and do more tests if necessary
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 10/3/2024
Dr. Mattox and the PA ( I don't remember her name) were very good at listening and communicating with me. Unfortunately, they did not have a solution for my hearing loss and that is frustrating, but they ahve been very thorough in trying to diagnose and solve the issues.

I know that I have a difficult condition to treat (Meniere's), but even so, the doctor was very blase about it and I had to ask a lot of questions to get his opinions.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 7/30/2024
I was seen first by a terrific resident (Dr. Boulder?) who was very friendly and patient with me. Then Dr. Mattox and Dr. Boulder and another resident (?) came in. Dr. Mattox was charmingly self-effacing and very thorough and confirmed what Dr. Boulder told me.

I understand this is teaching hospital but the amount of residents with provider was a lot. There was one resident (2nd year) who did my workup and two more residents that came in with the provider during his exam.

Provider was thorough with examination, explained answers to questions and reason for follow up visitq.

Dr. Mattox had no clue as to the cause of my worsening problem. He will be metting with the Balance Center people next week and they will discuss the problem. He promised a phone call at the conclusion of the meeting. He thought that "habituation and walking with a cane were good ideas,
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/27/2024
Doctor was very nice and answered all my questions.
- 4 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/24/2024
This was the first time I was very pleased with the Dr. This time he did listen to my concerns and he did not walk away or leave the room as I was talking to him so this was a great improvement from all the previous visits.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/22/2024
Dr. Maddox is exceptional. I would highly recommend him.

- 4 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/12/2024
I had to ask if there were any reasonable treatment for the continuing loss of hearing in my ear... The explanation was that surgery *might* be possible but he did not recommend it. I then had to ask if a hearing aid would help. It seems to me that the options should have been presented without my inquiry.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 4/27/2024
Dr Mattox is trustworthy, empathetic and professional
