I felt like a cog in a machine- the provider had a rote response based on my issue and wouldn't talk to me about any additional treatments. He took about 10 minutes and didn't seem to care about me at all.

- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 2/3/2026
Dr. Alder takes great care in explaining how things work, and what he found during my surgery and what he anticipates going forward. He also clearly is deliberate in his choices and does not just randomly prescribe stuff you don't really need. He also made sure he got my surgery done when planned despite the threatening weather, because he viewed recent trauma to my foot to make the need for surgery very urgent. I really appreciate Dr. Alder.

Third visit with Dr. Alder - we both presumed foot pain was plantar fasciitis, however, normal treatment (orthotics, stretching, cortisone shot) did very little if any. I was hoping we would explore other options regarding potential nerve issues (Baxter's nerve entrapment, tarsal tunnel syndrome) - but he pretty quickly recommended surgery. This felt rushed. So, I got a 2nd opinion and that doctor is going to order an MRI for more information first - that is kind of what I was hoping for with Dr. Alder but it was pretty much a one track mind toward 'plantar fasciitis and surgery'.

- 3 out of 5 starsReviewed on 11/25/2025
I felt rushed on this visit. After I arrived home, I realized I didn't even know the name of my condition or the pros and cons of the recommended surgery other than simply the fact that it was recommended. On my two prior visits, this physician has been very thorough in answering questions so I this visit was the exception.

Dr. Adler was very engaged and listened to me without making me feel he was rushing. He answered my questions and explained his diagnoses, what he did not think was the diagnosis and why, and the treatment plan. He gave me written materials with treatment instructions which was helpful. I would not hesitate to see him again or recommend him to others.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 10/10/2025
Dr. Alder explained why I shouldn't make certain movements with my ankle at this time. He was through and considerate.
- 2 out of 5 starsReviewed on 10/9/2025
Dr Alder entered the room with a diagnosis before even examining the issue, as demonstrated by the handouts he entered with. I will follow the stretching he prescribed even though I'll need to modify because those stretches are beginner level, and my current flexibility is greater than that. Dr Alder wouldn't know that because he didn't really listen. I will consider returning for a follow up visit but not with him.

- 3 out of 5 starsReviewed on 8/28/2025
He was impatient and got angry as I attempted to respond to his questions. He seemed unaware or uninterested in impact of my 2023 stroke on my feet and its relation to the presenting injury. Poor bedside manner. I made a follow up appointment but will not likely keep it.

In the months that I was being treated by Dr Alder, I have made steady progress and am feeling much better that when I first started treatment.
- 1 out of 5 starsReviewed on 8/21/2025
The podiatrist had terrible "bedside manners." He wasn't engaging at all, he didn't take the time to discuss concerns. He immediately went into what he could not do. He basically handed me a sheet of paper with exercises and said see you in a month- Unacceptable!!
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 8/19/2025
Dr Alda was very knowledgeable about my condition and explained clearly what I need to do going forward.

- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 6/24/2025
This was my second-ever visit to a podiatrist. The first was 10 years ago and that doctor dismissed me, giving very limited advice and not explaining any methodology. Dr Alden was respectful and concise and gave me a much better understanding of a potentially beneficial outcome.

Not very good at excplaining ailment, causes and why resistant to treatment
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/25/2025
Dr. Alder was incredibly good and direct. I was never confused about what was expected of me outside of my appointments and that contributed a lot to the success of my recovery.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/23/2025
Great experience
- 1 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/23/2025
Talked over me as I explained previous surgery as it pertained to the issue at hand. Had pamphlets upon entering the room before seeing me or knowing the severity. Pushed me to purchase a specific brand of products from his pamphlets. I had to repeatedly ask for him to relieve some pain. Told me it wasn't covered by my insurance. But because it affected my daily life it was covered. Sent me away with doing the same things I have been doing that nolonger worked. Which is why I came in. Rushed me out the room. I spent more time explaining my issue to the nurse than the doctor. I will not recommend. And going to get a second opinion and possibly going further.
- 1 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/8/2025
I have seen Dr Alder several times for the same issue. The first 2 times he was polite and gave good explanations. The problem occurred again because I broke my ankle. Dr Alder showed no interest in that issue (in fact he told me I should have had him do the surgery instead of my ortho) and was downright angry that I wasn't doing his recommended exercises and other things -- which I could not and cannot because of the fracture. He was rude, dismissive to the point of being cruel and condescending. He was angry and came close to yelling at me. I am an Emory cancer patient and I have been more than happy with my care at Winship, also my PCP and my eye doctor. Dr Alder showed no compassion and I will not go back to him again.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 5/6/2025
I have nothing but accolades for dr Adler. Some of the doctors I've seen since 2023 have been hit or miss. Dr Adler is caring, knowledgeable, doesn't demean or ridicule his patients.
- 3 out of 5 starsReviewed on 4/27/2025
Only saw doctor for ~5 mins. He never actually examined the affected area other than looking at it while standing a couple of feet of away. Told me he was a direct person, spent 30 seconds showing me an x-ray then said if the antibiotics didn't work he would start amputating parts of my toe. Told me it was that or things would be really bad. Then he left.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 4/25/2025
Great staff, great doctor (Dr. Alder), the x-ray technician, the front desk the whole staff as I stated.

- 3 out of 5 starsReviewed on 3/28/2025
He was kind and polite, However, in my opinion, I felt rushed. I thought that he'd clean my wound up and treat my left foot but he did neither. He only put a bandage on it. I had a bandage on it when I came. He explained my health condition but I just felt rushed and I don't feel as if I was of importance. That's why I chose to cancel my follow up and go somewhere else

X-ray done, identified no fractures. Given exercises and told to purchase a thin Rx pad. I have no idea what part of my foot that is causing the pain. I'm still in pain even while doing the exercises. I'm getting a second opinion.
- 5 out of 5 starsReviewed on 1/24/2025
This was basically a follow-up to check out the progress of my previously broken fifth metatarsal. Dr. Alder had given me specific exercises to do for several weeks since my foot had healed. I did them and the foot is perfect. I can continue dancing and thank Emory, Dr. Alder and the good Lord for the privilege!

Dr. Adler was to the point. Actually, he walked in the room and I barely spoke for 10 minutes--didn't ask what was bothering me, etc. I think he could tell just by looking, but I wanted to cover my bases so I asked some follow up clarification questions. This has happened with other docs--they're all business and don't want patients to talk, offer ideas, etc. I'm guessing they're tired of patient's self-diagnosing.

Dr Alder and his staff are consummate professionals that listen and are knowledgeable about podiatric procedures and rehabilitation. I had to have emergency foot/ankle/leg surgery, Dr Alder did his due diligence to create a game plan and roadmap for surgery and recovery. He is attentive and methodically sound in his judgement and I am happy to be in his care. I was injured on a Tuesday and within 7-10 days I had surgery and on to recovery to get back to Life.THANK YOU DR ALDER YOU ARE A HERO!

Although articulate I wasn't given opportunity to speak much or ask questions. Felt pushed out. Also I felt like I was talked down to. This was first time seeing this MD. He was pleasant enough. Don't feel like he wanted to hear me or spend anytime asking me enough questions about what I already have done or doing. Regarding foot care . Or exercises. Or past foot problems. Not sure I want to return but need to follow up so I probably will.

I did not feel as thought the doctor tried to connect with me and had the patience to listen to my journey. I felt extremely rushed and the doctors bedside manner is actually the original reason I left the Emory team and will never return. That was a horrible experience as he did nor believe the results of the CT scan and advised my issue was due to mobility. While my original podiatrist along with the third opinion I received today concluded a non-union, no fusion of the bones and to remain weightless. Versus Dr. Adler telling me to get in a regular shoe and start walking basically. Had I followed his advise I'd be worse. Had he listened he may have advised differently. I will never trust Emory again. He literally rushed me out his office, I felt like I did NOT belong there. He didn't even offer to reveal my foot, I had to ask him and he provided a sleeve. Versus the Amerigel and protection wraps provided by both my original podiatrist and the podiatrist with whom I received a third opinion on today.
