About the Provider

Carlos R. Wise, M.D.
Family Medicine Physician/ Veteran Leader

Born in Atlanta at Emory–Crawford Long Hospital, Dr. Carlos R. Wise is a dedicated physician whose career reflects a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and education. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology (Pre-Med) from Talladega College, a Master of Science in Genetics from Purdue University, and his Doctor of Medicine from Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Wise completed his Family Medicine residency at Martin Army Community Hospital and is board certified in Family Medicine.

His career spans service as a clinic chief and flight surgeon in the U.S. Army—earning honors such as the Bronze Star Medal—to leadership roles as Associate Program Director of a Family Medicine residency and Chief Medical Officer in the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Beyond medicine, Dr. Wise is a lover of language, music, red wine, gardening, and drawn to the feel of sand beneath his feet. He believes science and spirituality are not in conflict but beautifully complementary. A physician, teacher, singer, runner, feminist, warrior, husband, “girl dad”, and devoted friend, Dr. Wise finds deeper meaning in each name he’s given himself. Joining the Emory team is, for him, a lifelong dream fulfilled.
