The physician was generally polite, however he lacked common courtesy by not saying good morning when entering the room, and not speaking to my spouse. I cannot recommend this provider to anyone else since the Hip surgery failed; and he's not sure why. He's already expressed that he may not have the expertise to address it.

Excellent physician. Great communication. Also loved that he was able to perform an injection immediately, without needing a separate appointment. The injection appears to be more effective than what I received years before from Resurgens. Resurgens also did not have the physician see me the first visits. This is a much higher level of care in every aspect.

Although I know where my pain is coming from we are taking the shot way first. I personally don't think this will fix my hip and torn glutes and hamstring but after this round we will have to try something else. My sit hurts too bad. I am listening to my doctor.

As a medically complex individual, I appreciated the time Dr. Whitfield spent with me to fully understand the problem. He took the time to go over my imaging and point out all the problem areas, what they mean and how it contributes to my pain. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and I was impressed with how he tailored my surgical plan with taking EDS into consideration. He was very knowledgeable about my other conditions and seemed to genuinely care and want to help me.

Dr Whitfield showed genuine concern for my knee pain, was thorough in his evaluation, and provided options for my treatment. I felt very confident with his care and would absolutely choose him again.

I highly respect Dr Whitfield's attention, focus on my issue, he explains well and is very professional.

He proposed a non-surgical treatment plan for several months. I'd like to trust that this treatment would give me the best results, but I was hoping to get some clinical studies that would validate his opinion. Via my chart, I requested those a day later. He was very quick at responding to my question, but his answer did not give me anything that I could use to verify the treatment choice.I'm still hoping I can find something online maybe on Medscape.

Dr. Whitfield was the first doctor that I have talked to at this point who showed me my x-rays and explained all of the medical jargon on my MRI report to me. Even though the findings aren't as great as I'd hoped, he did understand my concerns and already scheduled a CT scan for me so that we could proceed with the best care going forward. No one else that I've seen has done this.

While the physician explained some things, I didn't get the feeling that he was all that excited to talk to me.

Dr. Whitfield is amazing. He spent a great deal of time with me answering all of my questions (even the ridiculous questions) with patience and understanding. He was honest (which I appreciate from a surgeon) about the recovery and helpful in explaining the level of success in dealing with my pain that he anticipates.

Dr. Whitfield answered every question that I has asked of him regarding suggested treatments for hip and/or back pain. Dr. Whitfield's attention was unwavering. Whitfield is great. INCREDIBLY busy and likely burning out but that seems to be the Emory way - pile on the work to the good ones until they crack. Things I've noticed as I've been a patient for 3 years now - the turnover rate of staff is high.

Dr. Whitfield is a master of his craft. Using the scientific method, he reviewed my history, previous attempt at resolution and results. He postulated (3) different actions possible with various recommendations. I chose his recommendation and it was a gel shot done in his clinic during the same visit. Thus far, there has been immediate improvement. I hope Emory is able to keep such masters in their employ. Losing him would be a serious loss in skills for orthopedics at Emory.

Above answers related to Dr Whitfield. His nurse was also very professional. The PA was professional, but not up to speed on my case - for example when I asked about MRI results she read the report to me as opposed to discussing in any substance. I had already read the report and knew what it said (better than she did). If she wasn't apprised on the report I would've preferred she defer to Dr for the questions.
