I felt like my concerns were blown off, not important. I advised that the lesion was still in my mouth, she looked at the area and felt around. That was the entire assessment. No complete head and neck assessment even though in the dictated notes she documented that she did a complete assessment. I asked what it was and she said it felt cystic but didn't think it was anything. This was not reassuring. I stated the plan at this appointment was to do a biopsy if it was still there. She didn't further explain anything again don't reassure me of anything. She didn't further the biopsy then said the lab has been on it lately and she would send me a message in the portal about the results. I just looked at her like you are joking. Biopsy result either good or bad by the portal. All I could think of was how cold, how uncaring wow I really am just a number that Emory doesn't care about. She also said to follow up with with Dr Schmitt at my next appointment, that appointment is in over 8 months, January of 2027. Again I thought I cannot believe this, a former oral cancer patient who is concerned about a new lesion and all I am worth is a message in the portal. Then the portal message came,as cold and uncaring as I expected. Please see your biopsy results. It was benign. No concerns for cancer. Have a great day! No explanation what it was, nothing. As a nurse I knew what it was but my husband had to use google to understand what it was. I am assuming that when she dictated the office visit she must have confused me and another patient. The dictated note was quite lengthy and extensive and majority of the information did not happen in the visit. Like I stated earlier, she only looked in my mouth, no complete assessment was done. Also the assessment at the bottom regarding safety was not completed at all. I did not complete any questionnaires for this appointment, nothing was verbally reviewed so the bottom third of the note must belong to someone else. Overall this experience has been frankly horrible. I did not have confidence in the provider, I felt like my concerns were not worth her time, and then the cold, impersonal portal message just proved that I am not important and just a number in the system.
