About the Provider

Arpita Basu is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Transplantation at Emory University School of Medicine. She is a medical school graduate of Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Hospital in Mumbai, India. Following this, she obtained a Master in Public Health from University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Basu completed her residency at Steward Carney Hospital, an affiliate of Tuft’s Medical Center. She worked as a hospitalist for 3 years prior to pursuing fellowships in general Nephrology at Case Western University, Cleveland Medical Center and Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation at Mayo Clinic, Rochester.

Dr. Basu has special interests in areas of living donation, living donor health, prolonging kidney allograft survival and donor specific antibodies. She received the Young Innovator Award, 2018 from the American Society of Transplantation’s Cutting Edge of Transplantation for her research involving compatible pairs in living donation.
