About the Provider
About the Provider Amir Antonios, MD, is a board-certified family medicine physician with Emory Family Medicine at Dunwoody. Dr. Antonios has special interests in women’s health and obstetrics, but cares for all family members and people of every age. In addition to his practice at Dunwoody, he also works at Emory University Hospital Midtown.
From EMT to MD
Dr. Antonios took a nontraditional route to becoming a doctor. Born in Egypt, he came to the U.S. as a child and later became a firefighter/emergency medial technician (EMT). His experience caring for ill and injured patients as an EMT, combined with his work as a combat medic in the Army National Guard, convinced him that medicine was his true calling. While emergency medicine may seem like the most natural fit, he chose family medicine because it enables him to help people stay healthy and prevent serious medical problems from developing.
Dr. Antonios appreciates the variety of patients he works with in family medicine and prides himself on meeting the specific needs of everyone in his care. He especially enjoys guiding women through pregnancy and birth and being there for what is often the happiest moments of their lives. Another benefit of family physician is caring for the babies he helps deliver from birth on—and for other family members as well. His work allows him to develop strong relationships and provide continuity of care for everyone in the household.
Patients are the Priority
Dr. Antonios aims to connect with his patients, giving them the time they need and providing them with a environment where they’re free to speak openly and be themselves. He wants his patients to feel heard and be comfortable advocating for themselves.
Outside of work, Dr. Antonios enjoys photography, wildlife and pickleball. He also takes an active role at his church and delights in spending time with his wife, who is also a physician, and his two young daughters.
