About the Provider
Aliza Machefsky, MD, is an OBGYN with the Emory Women’s Center. Her clinical interests include infectious diseases in women’s health, public health and health equity. In 2022, she completed a Gilstrap fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she focused on all three areas.
Dr. Machefsky’s path to becoming a physician was out of the ordinary. In college, she majored in English. However, she realized her interest in the human condition made medicine a good fit. Being a doctor provides an opportunity to see human beings at their happiest moments and lowest, most vulnerable moments. She enjoys being there to support them during both times. Dr. Machefsky strives to make sure her patients feel seen and heard. She believes that when women participate in shared decision-making, mother and baby receive the best possible care.
Away from work, Dr. Machefsky loves spending time with her family. She particularly enjoys outings to local parks and pools.

I felt pressed to end the appointment as soon as possible. Doctor came in, asked how the pregnancy was going, then turned to leave immediately after spending less than 1 minute in the room with me. I had to stop her and say that while the pregnancy was going fine I was worried about stress, iterated that I was experiencing workplace triggers that cause me to not be able to work, and have a daily 4 hour commute 3 days of the week that cause my back to ache. And I am occasionally afflicted with insomnia making me very worried about driving. I pressed for a work accommodation letter to work from home as needed. The received letter recommended I work from home 1 or 2 days a week did not solve any of my problems and indicates that the doctor was truly not listening to my concerns. Upon asking for the letter to be rewritten I was told that I had to come in again for another consultation. Considering that I would then have to schedule this appointment, take time out of my way for it, pay for parking, and pay for the visit I found this request unreasonable considering it stemmed from a doctor's inability to listen the first time.

Doctor Machelfsky is the ABSOLUTELY the BEST OBGYN I've ever had and by my count during 4 childbearing and many Gyn Issues I've had 12 different doctors. Thank You Doctor Machelfsky for always giving me Peace and Understanding.

I do not believe I was heard or even listened to. Every word made me feel anxious to the point of changing providers. I wish I was sssigned to a single obgyn from the start even if delivery might have fallen to another provider. When I first started my prenatal appointments I was told this wasn't possible. That's why I feel my care and the who experience had been very sub par due to not having a do tot to bond with who understands my needs and will better advocate for my needs.

Dr. Machesfsky was so kind and supportive. She gave me a membrane sweep and could tell I had been very nervous about it, and afterwards said I was so strong to have gone through it. Her support meant so much to me.

- 4 out of 5 starsReviewed on 3/27/2025
My experience was good, Dr. Machefsky was very kind and listened to all my questions. I did not feel rushed in any way as a patient! Only thing I was I had been different were my questions about what to expect post labor-and-delivery (such as if I will be provided a manual breast pump). I've asked several doctors or NPs at my visits now and none of them can answer some of my post labor-and-delivery questions and I don't know who to ask.
