About the Provider
A board-certified surgeon Abhineet Uppal, MD, provides multidisciplinary care for patients with colorectal cancer. Dr. Uppal's clinical and research interests focus on optimizing outcomes in colorectal cancer surgery using machine learning, translational research into the biological underpinnings of colorectal metastases, and early detection of metastases using circulating tumor DNA.
Dr. Uppal is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine. He joined Emory from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery and associate medical director of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Center.
Dr. Uppal earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals. He pursued fellowship training in complex general surgical oncology at the John Wayne Cancer Institute and in colon and rectal surgery at UC Irvine.

The doctor was very knowledgeable he walked me through my CC scan results and my x-ray to show me and explain to me what was going on with my body and to ensure me that this problem could be addressed he was the first one who actually sat down and told me what was wrong with me after going back and forth to a hospital and emergency room for over a year

I think highly of Dr Uppal. He was surprised Id read about the surgery. I had actually had other Drs speak to me about it for some time. Very easy to talk with and explaind all the risks.

Dr. Uppal always amazing. So caring and knowledgeable. He listened and answered questions and made us feel great during a very stressful time with my health.Dr. Concurs was also great but Dr. Uppal was super. Dr. Concurs semmed like he has a lot going on but we still got everything answered and left with fill knowledge of what we needed and what was coming up. No complaints at all.

I think dr. Uppal did it good job explaining things to me? I just have absorbed too much information at once and we'll have to call back for them to go over them again with me. I really think they should be written down not for the patient to try to remember three different exams they have to go through.
