About the Provider

Dr. Waggoner is a board certified specialist in Infectious Diseases with specific clinical interests in the prevention of travel related illnesses and the care of returning travelers who have acquired an infection abroad. He did his residency training in Internal Medicine at Duke University, and then completed Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Stanford University. His research interests also focus on travel related illnesses, and he has developed and implemented a number of diagnostic tests for diseases such as dengue virus, chikungunya virus, Zika virus, malaria and leptospirosis. Dr. Waggoner sees patients at the Emory TravelWell Center, where also serves as a site for the GeoSentinel study, which monitors returning travelers at locations throughout the world for different infectious diseases related to foreign travel.
Dr. Waggoner specializes in travel medicine and infectious diseases in the returning traveler.
