About the Provider
Originally from Philadelphia, Dr. Toner graduated from St Joseph’s College, then the University of Pennsylvania with his medical and doctorate degrees. He received clinical training at the Jones Institute in Norfolk, Virginia, where the first IVF birth in the US occurred. He subsequently joined their faculty and remained there for 10 years. During this time, he studied ovarian reserve, endometrial receptivity, and luteal support, and trained some of the field’s current leaders. He then went into private practice in Atlanta and has recently returned to academic medicine to teach the upcoming generation of caregivers. Dr. Toner takes special interest in advancing research involving increasing access to care by developing simpler and less expensive approaches to IVF.
Dr. Toner is a devoted husband and father to his 4 children and 4 step-children. He enjoys gardening, reading historical novels, and hosting his annual St Patrick’s Day celebration. He currently serves on the boards of Emory’s Aquinas Center, the Jones Foundation, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Dr. Toner was incredibly kind and clear, taking time to address my immediate concerns and walk me through my options. I'm very new to understanding fertility, and his supportive approach made me feel safe, informed, and comfortable continuing care here.As someone with a history of medical trauma, I pay close attention to how care is delivered. Thank you for creating an environment where I felt genuinely safe and well cared for.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Toner. The FET procedure was handled with exceptional skill, care, and professionalism. He took the time to explain every step, made me feel completely at ease, and showed genuine compassion throughout the process. His calm and reassuring manner made all the difference.

Dr. Toner and Dr. Anderson were both very patient, answered questions, and took time to review records I brought. I really appreciated Dr. Toner providing handouts I could take home. His explanation of the process was a great balance of scientific data with plain English summaries.

Dr. Toner did not explain the risk of needing stitches during an egg retrieval procedure. Once out of surgery, the procedure note did not even mention that I needed a stitch.

Dr. Toner was a great listener and made me feel at ease. He explained the embryo transfer details well and made me feel hopeful. Thank you!

I feel Dr. Tone should be a little more modern and progressive with concern to eggs and fertilization as he provides chart with averages and likelihood percents, but I could be an outlier and shock the stats. I am hopefully like most women in the 40s; however, I trust his judgement.

His explanation was good. However, I wish he could have given me the information regarding the name and telephone number of the person he was referring me to, instead of directing me back to MyChart.
