About the Provider
Fuad El Rassi, MD, a board-certified hematologist, treats patients with sickle cell anemia and other blood disorders. He leads the sickle cell research program at Grady Health System, where investigational agents and curative treatments are being evaluated in phase I, II and III clinical trials. He also treats patients with benign hematologic conditions at Emory University Hospital Midtown.
Dr. El Rassi is an associate professor in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine and serves as chief of hematology for Emory at Grady.
He is a member of the Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Research Program at Winship Cancer Institute. He serves on the board and as treasurer for the Sickle Cell Adult Provider Network. He is also involved in training hematology and medical oncology fellows in benign hematology and chairs the Fellowship Competency Committee.
Dr. El Rassi earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon. His postgraduate training included a residency in internal medicine at Saint Louis University Hospital and a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
